Supercharging the Old 76 Station
If you have an electric vehicle in California, you might just want to permanently program Madonna Inn’s EV charging bank into your navigation.
In Spring of 2018, we revealed a bank of Tesla superchargers which have been enjoyed by Highway 101 travelers, hotel guests, and locals alike - especially on Thanksgiving!
Now, we are excited to unveil the next (but not the final) stage of our EV charging station: two Universal Level 2 J1772 chargers! Compatible with all electric vehicles, these Tesla-branded chargers offer a full charge in 4-8 hours and are available to the public for free!
Many moons prior to its use as an EV charging bank, this section of the property was once a bustling Union 76 gas station. From 1970-1986 this fuel station (complete with pink fuel pumps adorned by Swiss-style flowers) offered hotel guests and locals a convenient on-property amenity.
Years later, the fuel station was temporarily used as a gift shop, a hub for Alexis Limousines, an informal stop for long-haul truckers, and even a landscaping office!
As of late, it seems that the old fuel station has come full circle with a new way for guests to fill their “tanks.”
